I find that they keep my mind occupied while I'm running, particularly fiction.  It's much easier to pound out the miles on the treadmill if I'm not constantly staring at the distance counter or the Olympian running next to me.  I haven't been in much of a health phase recently, thus I haven't "read" anything in a while, but I've found that the local library and Half Price Books are both excellent sources when I'm in the mood.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I tried listening to them on my commute, but I get a bit too immersed and don't concentrate on my driving.  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Audiobooks:  good.
